WORK RETREAT
The generous spirit of Klitgaarden
At Klitgaarden, you have the freedom to work and simply be. You are free from the usual daily chores, and homemade meals are provided in the dining room three times a day. The work morale is high, and most guests report that they accomplish three times as much at Klitgaarden as they do at home.
Artists and researchers share knowledge and insights over meals, where inspiration and collaboration arise naturally. However, there is a mutual respect for the need to withdraw and continue working. There are no expectations for social commitments; rather, the focus is on professional growth and knowledge. The welcoming atmosphere at Klitgaarden fosters a generous spirit of retreat and reflection, as guests come and go.
Looking for a working retreat?
Klitgaarden offers individual retreats and larger symposium stays for professional researchers, artists, and other creative practitioners or communicators, such as curators and clergy, who require focused time to work on their projects. Individual artists can apply for Klitgaarden's artist grant. In contrast, researchers, artists, and other professionals can seek funding for a work stay from foundations or choose to self-fund, provided they meet the necessary academic and professional criteria.
The retreat is primarily designed for individuals looking to work on research or artistic endeavours, including writers, artists, musicians, performers, makers, designers, researchers, university employees, PhD students, research groups, journalists, clergy, companies, and more.
Symposiums for groups are tailored for research and higher education institutions, artistic organisations, and similar entities, accommodating a maximum of 20 participants. Klitgaarden has 13 single rooms and one double room to host 15 participants, while arrangements can be made for other guests to stay elsewhere in Skagen. Research and artist groups are also welcome at Klitgaarden.
Klitgaarden provides a peaceful environment with ample space, including a larger meeting room for collaborative purposes. Klitgaarden emphasise the importance of mutual consideration among the guests.
